2010 Hadley Challenge

Hey guys,

Now that everyone has awesome mountain bike skills from our series, you all should come out for our race out on the Penniac Trails. The race is Aug 22, it starts at 11am at Marysville Place and goes all the way up to the top of Mt. Hope where the Hadley's live. There is a free BBQ and Picaroons keg for all the participants and volunteers. If you are unable to race but would like to volunteer, we are in need of help, so email me at adam.douthwright@rogers.com. Check out the official website at www.hadleychallenge.com and search facebook for the event 2010 Hadley Challenge.

MTB Week #4 - Final at Woolastook

Hey guys, the final race is this Wednesday at 6:30pm. All the same rules apply, 0:45:00, $2 race fee and licences/memberships mandatory. Immediately following will be a free BBQ at the park with hamburgers and hotdogs. A good chance to sit around and discuss a possible 2nd series to come in a few weeks. These trails hold up well in the rain, so the event will go rain or shine. New riders welcome, hope to see a good turnout.

Please RSVP to adam.douthwright@rogers.com so that I can make sure there's enough food for everyone at the BBQ.

Race #3 - Claudie Trails

Hey guys,

Norm, Nick and Kelly made us a course out on the Claudie trails for this week, so it should be alot of fun. Race is tomorrow night (Wed) at 6:30pm. I think the course is around 7 minute laps. 0:45:00 Race. Erin and I will be there shortly after 5:30 and we'll have registration forms for those who don't have a membership. Directions to the Claudie Rd. are to cross Westmorland St. bridge to the North side, continue on Rt. 105 until just past the Royal Rd. exit when you intersect with Sunset Dr. on your left. Claudie rd. is there on your right. Drive up Claudie Rd. until after the pavement ends (continues on dirt) and keep driving until the power lines cross the road. We'll be parked there. Don't forget to bring a Twoonie.

Eric H. has yellow right now, who'll be in yellow after this week? For those of you in Lance's position and way out of contention, stage wins and pride are still up for grabs, so common out.

Race #2 and Overall results

Great race tonight guys. Hopefully the weather/temp will be better next week. Here are the results and the overall standings. I am keeping with the same formula for results all the way through. The only thing I'm tweaking is the points awarded and minimum times. So 1st place will get 100pts and it goes down by 5pts from there. Also, I had previously put in some race times under 45 minutes. I encourage everyone to take breaks when they want and to stop early if they choose, but if your finish time is 42mins for example, it will be rounded up to 45 mins. If you finish at 47 mins, your time is still 47 mins. It was just affecting average lap times and benefiting those who stopped early. Anyway, I just wanted to keep you guys in the loop so you know how I'm scoring things. We hopefully have some pics and videos of the race, so stay tuned. I've got a couple videos on the facebook site, but here's a link to some pretty cool pictures Nick took.

Also, next week will be next Wednesday at 6:30pm at a course out on the Claudie Rd trails and then the final week will be at Woolastook. We'll bring a BBQ out there and have some grub and beverages after the last race. Also, if you're on the fence about getting a general membership with only 2 races left, there are talks of having another series. Either timetrials, and/or a cross series in the fall. So the membership (which is good for the entire year) is money well spent and a portion goes to support our club.

Race #2 - Islandview Trails

This week's race will take place on the first section of trails in behind the tree nursery at Islandview. You head west along the river on the old highway and turn up Friesen Dr. and drive until you see the 2nd turnoff for Gardenview Cs. on your right. Try to park safely along the side of the road when you arrive, this is an open street and we don't want to impede traffic. We'll meet right at the elbow in the road (at the trailhead) for registration from 6-6:30pm. Neutral roll through the tree nursery and up to the start line. This week's course has a few more turns, so I thought it would be a good idea to have one neutral lap of the course before firing the gun. Each lap should take <10mins for most, so this shouldn't add too much time. The course is marked, but some of the arrows may be easy to miss. Once the clock hits 0:45:00, you will be permitted to complete the lap you're on, and then you will be finished.

The same as always, I'll have general membership forms for $30 for those who don't have one already. Also, bring a twoonie to race.

For those interested, we can do a group ride after the race on one of the other loops (ie: Snake) for <1hr. The race goes rain or shine. See everyone Wed night!
